How we use cookies and similar technologies

Last updated: July 29, 2026

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them on the Jaen website and applications, and how you can control them.

Types of Cookies We Use

πŸ” Essential Cookies (Required)

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be disabled. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and accessibility.

Cookie Name:token, refreshToken, site_access
Purpose:Signing you in and keeping you signed in; site_access is the closed-beta gate
Duration:15 minutes (token), 7 days β€” or 30 with β€œremember me” (refreshToken), 24 hours (site_access)
Flags:httpOnly, Secure, SameSite β€” sent to us, never handed to a script

πŸ“Š Audience measurement (no cookie)

We count visits to this site so we can see which pages are read β€” but we do it without storing anything on your device. There is no analytics cookie, nothing in local storage, and nothing to consent to.

Cookie Name:None
Provider:JaenWorld OÜ β€” first party, no third parties
What we record:Page path, referrer, time on page, browser and OS, a shortened IP (last part removed) β†’ approximate city
How visits are grouped:A value calculated on our server, using a secret that changes daily β€” so that value cannot be carried into tomorrow. The record it sits in keeps the shortened IP, browser and OS for 90 days, so this is a short-lived pseudonym rather than true anonymity

🚫 Marketing and preference cookies: none

That is the whole list above. There is no third category, and no β€œoptional” tier β€” this site sets no advertising cookie, no tracking pixel and no preference cookie, from us or from anybody else.

Ad networks:None. No Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, no conversion tracking
Ads in Jaen Babymon:None, ever β€” it is a paid app and that is the point
Desktop-site preference:Kept in your browser's local storage, not a cookie β€” see below

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

There is nothing here to opt out of, because there is nothing optional set in the first place. The three cookies above are the ones that sign you in β€” reject them and you cannot sign in, which is the only thing rejecting them does.

Through Your Browser

You can block or delete cookies at any time from your browser's own settings β€” you never need our permission or a banner to do it:

  • Chrome: Settings β†’ Privacy and security β†’ Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Preferences β†’ Privacy & Security β†’ Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences β†’ Privacy β†’ Cookies and website data
  • Edge: Settings β†’ Privacy, search, and services β†’ Cookies and site permissions

⚠️ Note: Blocking these will sign you out and keep you signed out. Nothing else on the site depends on them, and the Jaen Babymon app does not use cookies at all β€” blocking them here does not affect your baby monitor.

Third-Party Cookies

No third party sets a cookie on your device through this site. There is no advertising network, no analytics provider and no social embed here.

Two third-party services are used on our own servers, where they never touch your browser:

Sentry (server-side error reporting)

Runs on our backend to record errors so we can fix them. There is no browser SDK on this site, so it sets nothing on your device.

Sentry Privacy Policy β†’

Stripe (payments)

Used server-side for billing. If a payment page hosted by Stripe is ever opened, Stripe sets its own cookies there under its own policy β€” not on this site.

Local Storage & Similar Technologies

Local storage is not a cookie, but the law treats it the same way β€” so here is what is in it. None of it is sent anywhere, and only one item can be written before you sign in.

Before you sign in

One item, and only if you ask for it: jaen_desktop_view, written when you tap β€œDesktop site” on a phone so the choice survives the next page. It holds nothing but true or false, it identifies nobody, and it never leaves your browser. If you never tap it, nothing is stored.

Local Storage

Your account details (jaen_user) β€” your name, email and role, so the page can greet you without asking the server again β€” plus small interface choices such as whether you collapsed the sidebar and which product you last filtered by. It stays until you sign out or clear your browser data.

What is not here is the key that signs you in. That lives only in the token cookie above, marked httpOnly, which means the browser sends it to us but never hands it to a script running on the page.

Session Storage

Short-lived state for the tab you are in, cleared when you close it.

What is not here

No visitor ID, no device fingerprint, and no IndexedDB β€” this site uses none of them. Your baby's care log is never in your browser at all: it lives encrypted on your phone, in the app.

How to clear it

Signing out removes the sign-in keys. To remove everything, use your browser: Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ Clear browsing data β†’ Cookies and site data.
